Manchester City 2-4 PSG — PSG stun City at the Etihad

Paris Saint-Germain handed Manchester City their first defeat of the season in Matchday 2 of the Champions League. Vitinha, named man of the match, orchestrated a stunning first half that left the Etihad Stadium in shock.

Twenty minutes that decided everything

In the space of twenty first-half minutes, PSG turned the game on its head. Désiré Doué opened the scoring in the 13th minute, Ousmane Dembélé doubled the lead two minutes later, and Vitinha buried City at the 32nd. At half-time the scoreboard already read 0-3. The Etihad, expecting a statement from their unbeaten side, was stunned into silence.

Haaland keeps it alive, Akliouche extinguishes hope

City's second-half reaction was inevitable: Erling Haaland, relentless as ever, pulled one back at the 53rd minute, then completed his brace at the 75th to make it 2-3. The Etihad roared back. But Maghnes Akliouche had already sealed the game at the 62nd minute with PSG's fourth, rendering Haaland's efforts ultimately futile.

City dominate the stats, Paris win the game

The numbers tell an odd story: City finished with 54% possession, 27 shots to 15, and 11 corners to 2. Expected goals even favoured the hosts (2.57 to PSG's 1.82). Yet it was Paris who were clinical when it mattered, registering 10 shots on target to City's 9. A masterclass in efficiency over volume.

City rattled, Paris top the table

This is Manchester City's first defeat of the season across all competitions. Pep Guardiola, serving a touchline ban, watched from the stands as his side conceded three times in twenty minutes — a sight he will not forget. PSG, meanwhile, announce themselves as genuine Champions League contenders. Vitinha, man of the match with an 8.5 rating, controlled the tempo from first to last. Paris move to the top of the provisional standings.
